We got some really great news today. Easton does not have to go back to physical therapy. He is doing spectacular and looks great. The therapist said he is right on track with everything. He's even doing some things that not all six month old babies do, like getting up on their knees to move. Unless he relapses, which should not be the case, he is good to go. Yay for you, Little Man.
Scott's softball needs two more wins in order to end up in first place for the summer softball season. Unfortunately, his team has 15 minutes left to finish a game in which they are down 12 runs. Hopefully Lady Luck will be on their side tomorrow evening as they finish up that game. It would be nice to have a first place finish again for the summer season. It's been a few years too many without a super cool trophy.
Scott and I leave for Mexico in less than two weeks. We are super excited! We haven't been on a vacation in years. As sad as it will be to leave, it will also be nice to spend a few days sans kids. Aunt Karen is coming to watch them, so we know they will have a good time. Aunt Karen is a big kid herself and has lots of great ideas about how to entertain the kiddos.
Kyla's good friend, Grace, turned three last week, so that was another good time for the month of July. We met Grace and her family at Casa Bonita. Kyla enjoyed celebrating with Grace and did not want to leave. Every day since, she has asked if we can go back there for a family fun day.

Immediately following Easton's six month check-up, we made the fun drive to Hackensack, MN, to spend time with Granny and Gramps at their lake house. Thankfully, the kids did very well with the drive to and from Minnesota. Who knew we had such good little travelers on our hands?
Everyone had a great time in Hackensack. Kyla enjoyed being on the boat, as long as she had her sunglasses and plenty of fishing lures and bobbers to play with. She also got the most fish of anyone while we were there. She thought the fish were fun and cute. She held all of them and gave them as much lovin' as she could before they had to go back into the lake.
Easton didn't mind the boat either. He liked to nap on it. If he wasn't napping, he wanted Granny to hold him though.
Kyla also had fun playing in the sand with all the cool sand toys there. There was a lot of fun to be had in the lake, as well as in the relaxation station. She also made cupcakes with Granny and LOVED that. Any chance to eat frosting and use sprinkles is a good time for her. It was an even better time once Aunt Michelle, Uncle Tim and Bauer (Buster-Bower, as she called him) arrived at the cabin. In Kyla's opinion, "the more, the merrier."
Scott managed to catch a rock mouth bass on the trip. I, however, had the largest catch for the time we were there. I managed to snag a 21" Northern while trolling one evening. Of course, I'd be the one to catch it. I'm the one person out there that won't touch a fish, let alone a longer one with teeth. I did manage to pet it though. Not sure if that truly counts. :-)
After spending a few days at the cabin, we drove to visit Great Grandpa and Grandma on the farm. We only stayed one night, but we all had a great time. Kyla warmed up to Grandma and Grandpa right away. She had a blast swinging on the swing with Grandma, and possibly even more fun telling Grandpa to get crackalackin' when he wasn't paying enough attention to her.
Grandpa showed Kyla the big tractors. She liked them, from afar. Otherwise, they are just too big. Grandma showed her a stuffed little chick, and she's been in love ever since. Every store we go to, we have to try and find a chick. Apparently, they are hard to come by when it isn't Easter time.
Kyla also really enjoyed the summer sausage we had with dinner that night. Grandpa went and bought her some to bring back home with her. We wonder what she will eat once it's all gone?
We were only gone for five days, but we all had a great time. We can't wait to go back next summer. Hopefully the time will go by quick enough for Kyla. She's the most eager to go back there.

Easton went for his six month check-up this morning. He is 26 1/2" tall and weighs 14.5 pounds. He is at the 50% for height and the 8% for weight. At least he is into the double digits with one set of his numbers. Hee hee!
Dr. Tiegs said he looks great. She can see improvement in his movement and motor skills from going to physical therapy, so that is awesome. At this point, the doctor does not feel Easton will need a helmet. The back of his head will always be a bit flat on the right side, but now it is minor.
These six months have gone by in a flash. Easton is rolling all over the place now. Unless he has a good toy to chew on, he rarely wants to spend any time on his back. He'd rather be rolling and working on crawling/moving. He still has a ways to go before he will crawl, but he does get up onto his knees a few times a day. It's really only a matter of time until he figures it all out.
The doctor said we can introduce Easton to table foods, meats and the ever-popular sippy cup. All of these are reminders that he is growing way to fast for us.

Kyla had been gearing up for the Fourth of July about a week before the day actually arrived. She knew she was going to wear red, white and blue. She also knew she was going to do some firecrackers with Daddy before going to see the big display here in town. What she didn't count on though, was the rain. A big storm moved in on the 3rd and brought some icky rain with it.
She was able to do some firecrackers with Daddy the night before. She liked the smoke bombs the best. Probably because they made the least amount of noise. Most of Daddy's firecrackers were too loud, as Kyla put it.
Fortunately, Highlands Ranch rescheduled their fireworks for tonight. Kyla thought most of the fireworks were pretty cute for being so loud. Her and Daddy got some Dairy Queen before the show. So that, along with her special glow sticks, really made the night a fun one. We know she will ask to see fireworks every night for the next week or so. To be two years old again.
