Happy March! We started the month off with a children's expo at the Wildlife Experience. It was crazy busy. There were lines everywhere. Easton's listening skills are only as good as he wants them to be, so it was tough keeping track of him in the mob. The kids got to pick out some "cool" free stuff though and see some large animals. Kyla thought they were going to come to life, so she stayed as far away from them as possible.
Since Easter is fast approaching, the kids went in for hair cuts and pictures. Kyla had her four-and-a-half year old picture taken also. Can you believe she is that age already? We sure can't.
Hair cuts went well. Wish the same could be said for pictures. Easton was only happy if he could hold onto one of the large styrofoam eggs. Of course, Mom did not want the egg in the picture, but a happy kid is better than a tantrum-throwing one. So as you can see at the top of this post, the egg and Easton won.
We (and I primarily mean I) decided to get a full size bed for Kyla this month. Naturally her current bedroom set got listed on Craigslist. As is always the case when you hope something takes a few weeks to sell, it sold within a few days. A couple came and liked it, so they asked to take it with them. That meant dumping all of her stuff out and putting everything into bins. No big deal, right? WRONG! Most stores no longer sell full size bedroom sets, so she lived out of bins for several weeks. Her poor room looked so empty with only her bed left in there.
On Saturday, the 10th, the Lone Tree Arts Center hosted an event called the Fancy Nancy Extravaganza. Tickets sold out for the even quickly back in December. However, thanks to Craigslist once again, we were able to get last minute tickets to meet the author of all the Fancy Nancy books, Jane O'Conner. You could get anything autographed, have your picture taken with the author, walk a little cat walk and pose for a picture, make a very fancy princess crown, eat delicious cupcakes and watch a performance of the first Fancy Nancy book acted out by a children's theater group. Jane O'Conner also read her latest story to everyone before the show started. It was a super cute event! Kyla had a blast, and it's quite possible Mom enjoyed it all even more.
Yay for daylight savings time. We can hardly wait for the sun to rise at 5-something every morning. It really is rude to have to change the clocks. It fools the kids into thinking they can get out of bed when it's not late enough. Oh how we much prefer "falling back" rather than "springing forward."
It's early yet, but we registered Kyla for T-ball this summer. Now that she is four, she can finally play. We are hoping all the practice in the backyard pays off. That is probably just wishful thinking, but it will sure be fun to see how she does; if she even likes it. There was a spot on the form to request playing with a friend, so we are hoping her and Grace will get to be on the same team. Odds are, Kyla will enjoy herself and the game more if she has a friend to share the experience with this summer.
March Madness was a bit maddening again this year. Kyla's team was in the top spot for a while. Apparently making picks based on team mascots is not as futile as one would think. No one in our family won, but we look forward to next year's madness. Easton will hopefully be able to make picks next year too. With all four of us picking, maybe the odds will be in our favor.
Kyla had two birthday parties to attend this month. One was a classmate from pre-school and the other a friend from swimming lessons. She had a lot of fun at both parties.
Easton started his official speech therapy visits this month. His pathologist is named Theresa. She comes to our house for about an hour every Wednesday morning. So far, things are going well. He is saying at least one new word for her every time. Easton really seems to like her. He really enjoys doing puzzles with her. We hope he warms up quickly. The more comfortable he is, the more he's bound to say.
Scott started a new job this month. He is now working for Bank of the West. He put in ten great years with US Bank, but thought it was time for a change in positions and companies. I honestly do not know what his new job title is, but that is probably for the best. If I were to explain it, I'm sure I'd make it sound much less important than it actually is. That being said, I will let him tell you personally. That way, he'll make it sound way more important than it is. :-) But truthfully, without a business card handy, I do not know what his new position is even called. Score one for the wife.
Scott went to LA for five days for training. Those five days happened to fall during the week of Kyla's spring break, so it was a bit quieter around the house.
We wrapped the month up by attending Easter Fun Day at church again. Kyla loves going there. Easton tried his hand at all of the activities, but basically just made up his own version of stuff. Translated, that meant he was quite the handful. Thankfully, the bag of popcorn kept him occupied so Kyla could partake in the fun activities and games.
We cannot forget the visit to see the Easter Bunny at US Toy that same day. The kids each received a goodie bag and a balloon animal. Easton wanted nothing to do with the Easter bunnies this year, but he did at least give them a high-five.
