Wow! September was a busy, busy month for us. Hopefully all will get reported in this blog. :-)First things first, Kyla turned three on the 6th. She celebrated with a few friends at one of her favorite parks in the area. Her birthday fell on Labor Day this year, so everything for the party was red, white and blue. It was a bit windy, but she had a blast. She loved seeing everyone wearing "her" colors, as she called it. Again, Kyla would like to thank everyone for making her third birthday such a special one.
The day after her birthday, Kyla started pre-school. She goes three days a week for three hours each day. She has ten classmates and two teachers. The teachers are Miss Beth and Miss Tonia, and she loves both of them. Her bestie, Grace, is in the class with her, so we feel that is helping to make the transition even better for Kyla. As of now, her favorite things about pre-school are going outside, eating lunch and spending time with Grace and the teachers.
If you ask her about her day, she will usually tell you about all the things she didn't do at school that day. For instance, she'll tell you "I didn't cooperate," "I didn't sing" or "I didn't play with anyone but Gracie." We are hoping she'll soon start telling us about all the fun things she did do for the morning.
Kyla is learning a lot. She practices her letters, numbers, the days of the week, the months of the year and songs each and every day at home. Sometimes she puts them all together into a melody of her own. It's cute to hear her sing.
Easton was fitted for a cranial helmet at the beginning of the month. It's baby blue in color and worn 23/24 hours each day. He is doing great with it on. He isn't always thrilled to have the helmet put on though. Whenever the helmet gets situated on his head, he does his best to push it off. He's quick about it too. Thankfully, once it's on, he doesn't seem to mind at all. He'll go in every three weeks for measurements to see how much change and progress has been made. Hopefully, the next three months will fly by and his head will be nearly perfect when all is said and done.
Easton is sitting up on his own now. No more falling over while sitting for him. He loves his new found freedom. He can play with so many more toys and be closer to Kyla on the floor.
Plus, Easton learned how to crawl. All over the place! He fully mastered this skill on the 25th. We put him down in the toy room, and four minutes later, we'll find him in the kitchen. He's gotten quite speedy over the course of a few days. He enjoys both crawling and sitting up. He can get into so many things now. He just loves it. He has a blast taking all the toys out of the lower bins in the play room, as well as digging through the basket of play food. His messes are almost worse than his sister's anymore.
Scott's softball team had their last fall game of the year this month, too. They finished in fourth place. Not as good as usual, but not the worst either. We'll just have to look forward to next year and hope for first place finishes in both the summer and fall leagues.
On top of all of that, we enjoyed a few other special activities. On the 11th, Kyla and Mommy went and checked out the Highlands Ranch Days at the mansion. There was a petting zoo filled with turtles, rabbits, donkeys, camels, goats and pigs. To name a few. There was also a horse drawn carriage ride around the mansion, which Kyla really enjoyed. In addition, there were horses to feed, dancers to watch and crafts to make. It was a fun morning.
The following Saturday, the 18th, we took the kids to the Carson and Barnes circus. It was the first time going to a circus for both Kyla and Easton. Kyla thought the animals were really cool. She also enjoyed the clowns, the jugglers and the acrobats. Easton took it all in too. He did a great job for the two hours we were there.
Football also started this month, so Saturday's and Sunday's are even more fun. On Saturday, we root for the Wolverines. Sunday's it's the Vikings. We just love football season around here.
October appears to be just as busy for us. We have Aunt Michelle's and Uncle Tim's wedding, trips to pumpkin patches and apple orchards planned, as well as all the Halloween festivities. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
