Kyla also wrapped up her spring season of soccer. She only scored the one goal, so we are looking forward to the fall season. At age five, they have weekly practices and more games, so that will be fun to watch. Her team party was at the Lone Tree park. The kids had the place to themselves and loved being able to run around and play with each other. There isn't a ton of time for playing before or after games. This year the girls got a soccer ball guy trophy and bows and headbands. Hopefully everyone returns at the end of summer so they can continue to build a strong team together.
Easton returned to his two times the fun class this month. He is making progress. He seems to really enjoy circle time, stories and songs. He does not want to leave at pick up time. That must be a good sign, right?
We are making headway on Easton's transition to a big boy room. All of his new stuff is up and hanging on the walls. It is vintage-looking sports stuff. We finally found fabric to match everything, so we are having a bedspread made for him. It should be ready the first of June. A friend's brother made some book shelves to hang on his walls, and those have all been primed and painted to match too. If all goes well, Easton will be one little peanut in a large, full size bed soon.
Kyla earned another swim ribbon this month. She is turning into quite the little fish. She is excited to go to lessons every week and no longer cries or hesitates when Miss Amanda asks her to do something or try something new. She has come a long way in a year. We hope she masters side breathing and big arms and kicks quickly. If she does, she will be swimming properly in no time. The bulk of her "swimming" is done under water while she holds her breath. She is very good at that. If only that counted.
Kyla had a birthday party this month at Build-A-Bear. It was for her friend, Abby, from school. She had a blast. Any chance to get a new stuffed animal is more than appreciated. Because naturally, she does not have enough yet.
There was another parent's night out at pre-school this month. It was a cold and rainy evening, but we managed to enjoy a yummy meal and get a little shopping done before it was time to pick the kids up. Kyla and Easton had a lot more fun this time around because Grace and Lilly were there too. We are already counting down the months until school starts back up and the next PNO's is here.
Mother's day was rather cold and dreary this year. I felt a cold coming on when I woke up. By the end of the day, I felt pretty icky. We did not do too much. We ran some errands and then Scott made me lasagna. I wanted to just rest up, so it was kind of nice that the day was rather blah (in terms of weather). Kyla made me the most beautiful scarf at school. She also put together a foam door hanger at a Mother's Day class she took at the rec center. What more could a mother ask for? Except maybe to not get sick.
To all the mother's and grandmother's reading this, we hope you had a special Mother's day too. We wouldn't be celebrating if it weren't for you. May you have been able to spend the day doing exactly what you wanted to do.
Tball started this month for Kyla. She is playing up a level, so to speak. The team she is on is a 5/6 team of girls, so she is definitely one of the youngest and smallest. However, she should be a fantastic tball player before she moves up a level because she will get to repeat this one for three summers if she chooses to do so. Her best bud, Grace, is on the team too. Go Gator Girls!!
Ryder went up to Heaven with all our other loved ones on the 15th. He was peeing on himself three to four times a day, and no medicine seemed to be helping with that little nuisance. He was put to sleep by a fantastic nurse at Banfield. We all miss him dearly. Harley especially. She was not the same for a good week or so. Thankfully we have each other and another dog to make it a bit easier on us.
Kyla's last day of pre-school was on the 16th. She had a graduation program in the evening. The kids song five or six songs and got their diplomas. It was super cute. Grace, Kyla and a boy named Finn were all very entertaining to watch. So hard to believe she will be going to Kindergarten in August. Our little baby girl is not quite so little anymore.
Easton is doing so well with his therapy sessions and in general. He is learning more body parts, how to make many different animal sounds and of course, new words. His favorite new world is "milk." We look forward to his continued progress and seeing how much he can say by his third birthday.
The Carson and Barnes circus was in town, so we took the kids to see it. They both really enjoyed it. Easton made it through the first half and intermission before getting antsy. Kyla was great throughout all of it. Easton's favorite part was watching a clown jump on a trampoline and Kyla's was watching that same clown pop balloons. Next time, we may have to take them downtown to see the "big" circus show.
There was a picnic at the Northridge park for all the pre-school kids to wrap up the school year. Kyla and I went while Easton was at his class. Kyla was able to see Miss Pam again and give her more drawings and hugs. She is really going to miss her teacher. It is endearing to know Kyla loved her so very much.
We finished the busy month with Kyla's dance recital. She had her hair done and pictures taken before we had to rush to the theater where the recital was held. The younger kids had their recital together, so the numbers went quickly. There were 19 performances and it maybe took just over an hour. Kyla's class was number 17 and well worth the wait. They did a great job and looked adorable up on the stage.
A lot of grilling was done over the Memorial Day weekend. Can't wait to see what's on the menu for Father's Day.
