Fall is always a favorite time around here for all of us. There's so much to do and see. We just love it!
Kyla wrapped up soccer this month. She seemed to enjoy herself and playing. She scored a goal at her first game and assisted with many more the following weeks. She's pretty brave. She has no trouble getting in the mix to steal the ball from other players. Once she gets the ball down near her goal, someone on her team usually steals it to score. Thankfully, the assist is just as important. Of course, we are pretty sure Kyla does not feel the same. She'd much rather score herself. Maybe in the spring she'll be able to steal the ball and kick it down the field for a goal?
Easton is his usual self. He is still the biggest mess maker ever! His favorites including throwing every toy out of their bin onto the floor, throwing as many toys will fit behind the baby gate downstairs (so when you do open it, there's a massive flood of toys spilling around you), taking trash out of the bathroom basket and throwing whatever is in there into the toilet and yanking books off of bookshelves. Making big messes brings him a lot of joy.
Kyla's class went over to church again this year to pick a pumpkin from their "patch." Easton and Mommy met her there, as well as Lilliana and Heidi. Naturally, we had to take some pictures. It's not a fun trip out if we don't at least try. :-) Easton doesn't care to actually look at the camera much anymore, but we did get a few of him smiling in other directions.
Kyla's pre-school has a butterbraid fundraiser every year. We took an afternoon and went to sell some to Daddy's co-workers. Kyla enjoyed giving her sales pitch. Who knows? Maybe she will find a job in a related field down the road?
Mommy won a free lunch to the Melting Pot of Littleton at the beginning of the month, so Daddy and I enjoyed a child-free lunch at a very yummy place during fall break. We don't often get out to lunch without the kids, so it was a nice treat.
During fall break, Mommy took the kids to a new indoor play place called Treehouse Discovery. Grace, Lilly and their Nana met us there for a couple of hours. The kids loved it and played together very well. We will have to go back soon. It's always nice to get out of the house and have them make a mess elsewhere.
Due to Kyla's soccer game, we had to find a pumpkin patch near home this year. We had a weekly deal come in for a place called, Family Pumpkins, and decided to go there. It was said to have jump houses, pumpkins and a kid friendly straw maze. Grace, Lilly and Nana met up with there too. However, it really should not have been called "family" anything. When we finally found it, on the side of a busy road heading into Denver, there was no pumpkin patch. Just some pumpkins laying around in an enclosed fenced in area. And the straw maze was part of a haunted maze. The kids had to decide whether or not they were brave enough to walk on the outside of the maze to get to the bounce houses. Kyla did go through while clinging to Daddy, but Grace wanted nothing to do with it. We could hear her crying all the way back near the entrance. Poor thing. Kyla and Lilly jumped a few minutes and decided they wanted to get their faces painted. It was such an ordeal, we all decided to meet up at the church pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins. Grace will probably not want to meet us anywhere again.
On Saturday before Halloween, we all met up with Heidi and the girls at Whole Foods for their Fall Harvest activities. The kids were able to get a few goodies by trick or treating around the store. They too, also had face painting, so the girls waited patiently for their turns.
After Whole Foods, we made our annual pilgrimage with the Kruglet's to Trick or Treat Street at the Eastridge Recreation Center. Boy was it busy. We arrived during the last hour, and the line ran the entire length of the rec center. It took about a half hour before we actually made it downstairs for the treats. As usual, the girls had a blast. Mommy did Easton's work while he rode in the stroller and ate suckers. They got a ton of candy again this year. It's a fun little outing. We are making some great memories with great friends also.
The month finished out with Kyla's pre-school Halloween party and trick-or-treating. That morning, her school had their Halloween parade. It was so windy, the only shot of Kyla has massive amounts of hair blowing in her face. We are hoping maybe Heidi got a better shot.
Her party at school included lunch, a craft and a game. The kids had a blast. It was a great start for the holiday.
That night, we met up with the Kruglet's to go trick or treating. It was a very nice evening. We took the kids around Glengate Loop, and boy did they make out like bandits. The girls did great. They took turns ringing doorbells and knocking. Well, they did their best to take turns. It was usually a race with the first one there getting to knock or ring the bell. Kyla was very polite. She said trick or treat every time, as well as thank you. She also wished them a Happy Halloween. Apparently she gets extra nice when you give her candy. Easton was a trooper. He spent half of his time going up to houses with Mommy or Daddy. After that, he rode in the wagon eating suckers again. He sure was sticky by the time we got back home.
It was a great month for everyone! We look forward to November. Until then...
