Greetings! We mentioned the weather in our last post, and sadly, it is no better this month. We have had many cold days and have even seen some snow. This is the first time it's snowed in May since moving here in 2004. It appears the cold weather has affected many of you also. Beginning to wonder what summer will be like at this rate?
The soccer season wrapped up for Sugar & Spice. Due to the weather, there were many games and make-up games this month. Kyla scored another goal and assisted with many more. It was fun to watch her get into the huddle and do her thing. Even though she did not score a ton herself, she really did a great job of kicking the ball away from others. We were really proud of her and cheered he on loudly at each game.
Easton will be old enough to play soccer in the fall, so we will have two players on our hands. We can't wait to watch them both.
On top of all the usual activities and special things taking place this month, the kids have been attending a lot of birthday parties for friends and classmates. They love going and always have a great time celebrating with others.
When we moved to Colorado, we had a great realtor named Cindy Kean help us find a home. We got in touch with Cindy this month to discuss the possibility of selling our house and moving into something with a bit more room. If the market is as strong as it appears and all goes well, we may try to put our house on the market around the Fourth of July.
Kyla and Easton both had fun school events fall on the same Friday night this month. For Kyla, it was a school carnival. Bounce houses, blow up slides, carnival games, junk food options and prizes galore could be found outside the school. There was even a dunk tank for dunking your favorite teacher. We were in a bit of a time crunch in order to make it to Easton's event, but the kids had a great time nonetheless.
After the carnival, we rushed to Easton's pre-school for their annual art show. Easton and his classmates made cloud drawings. Nearly ever child in the class claimed his/her painting looked like spilled milk, and Easton was no exception to that. It was cute to see his painting and those of his friends. We can't wait to see what he does for next year's show.
Many activities are coming to a close for the summer and Kyla's girl scout troop is no exception. She had her last meeting at the start of the month and ended her first year as a daisy with a team party at Build-A-Bear. The girls played games and made their own thin mint daisy bear. The bear has a matching daisy smock and is super cute. Like all new stuffed animals, she will most likely be loved unconditionally for the next few days until she finds her way into the stuffed animal bin where she will be forgotten about until there is a need to go through the bin again.
Our babysitter for the past few years, Kelly, graduated high school. She was kind enough to invite us all to her graduation party at Civic Green park. The kids enjoyed sharing the special day with Kelly. She has been a great sitter, and we will miss her dearly when she heads off to college in August.
Easton's last day of school was the 24th. He had a little party and cookie exchange to end his year. He really loved going to school and will most likely miss the time with his friends and teachers. He really seemed to take a liking to a girl named Molly, so he will probably miss her the most. Or maybe it's the art projects he will miss the most? He really enjoys getting dirty to make a good craft. He must get that from his sister.
Kyla's last day of kindergarten was on the 29th. As previously stated, it was bittersweet for Mom and Dad. Possibly more so for Mom as many tears were shed throughout the day.
Instead of a graduation party, the kids put on a "special me" program. They sang some of their favorite songs, read some learning poems, mentioned something they learned to do over the course of the year and put on a slide show. It was super cute and evidenced all the ways they have grown over the past nine months.
Thankfully, there's almost two and a half months of summer break to come to grips with the fact we have a first grader on our hands. We are sure she is ready for the challenge, but less sure we are ready to have a baby girl old enough to be in first grade already. Pause buttons and time travel sure would come in handy to help us keep our baby girl little for longer.
We celebrated the end of the school year by going to Chuck E. Cheese with the Kruglet girls. Things are always more fun with Grace, Lilly and a visit to "the cheese."
Easton finally peed on the potty for the FIRST. TIME. EVER. on the 30th! It was a long time coming. We celebrated the occasion with some candy and a huge potty song and dance. Hopefully it is all starting to click with him. We'd love nothing more than for him to be diaper-free and potty trained by the end of the summer. After all, it is a necessary requirement for attending pre-school in the fall.
Mother's Day fell somewhere in the month too. The kids and Scott made sure Mommy had the best day ever! The presents were nice, the weather was great and the family time was perfect.
We can't forget Memorial Day either. We'd like to give thanks to our military men and women, past and present, for their dedication, sacrifice and service to our country.
