July 2013

Happy July to all of you.  We hope you had a great Fourth and month!

We spent the holiday week in Minnesota with family at the cabin.  Thankfully this year it was not as hot and humid.  The humidity was replaced with a rain.  Translation...there were a lot of mosquitoes out this time.  Bug spray and vitamin B were no match for the little blood suckers.  We all came home with many little souvenirs from our trip up North.

It was nice to get away for a week and spend time with family.  We got to see everyone again this trip, so that was nice.  We are always grateful for family time and making new memories.  We spent time in the water, on the farm, on the boat fishing, attending the turtle races and just hanging out.  The week always goes by so quickly, so we look forward to seeing all the pictures when we get home.  They are nice reminders of the fun times we had.

Easton caught his first fish this year.  As exciting as that was for him, he seemed to enjoy playing with the worms the most.  He had no interest in going in the water this year.  He played in the sand while Kyla swam in the lake.

As we said, we decided to put the house on the market the day we left for vacation.  Our realtor told us we had 14 showings for the first day and about five offers.  Two couples went back and forth with us, but by the end of that first day, we had made our choice.  We accepted an offer from a couple who'd been looking to buy in that area for a while.  Even though there was some back and forth that day, our house essentially sold within a few hours to the first lookers of the day.  What a relief!

We hit the ground running when we got back from vacation.  Our realtor spent the entire day with us showing houses.  Sadly, nothing stood out as something we wanted to buy.  By the middle of that same week, some new houses popped up on our radar.  One we liked enough to put an offer in on it.  With some sweet talking from our realtor, the couple accepted.  We are not sure if the sweet talk was necessary, but it also can't hurt.  :-)

If all goes well, we will close on both houses the same day next month!

Easton peed on the potty again after we got back from vacation.  Grandma thought maybe she could help E out while we were in Minnesota, but that did not go as planned.  E refused to even put underwear on for Grandma.  People keep telling us "it will just click," and "boys are so much harder." At this rate though, it is beginning to feel as if he will never get it.  As they say, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."  This is our motto until it "clicks" with Easton.

Uncle Shawn and Kristen visited us for a few days on the way back from hiking in Montana.  It's always nice to have visitors, and the kids enjoy the company.  OK, let's be honest, the kids enjoy having someone else pay attention to them.  Mom and Dad are only good for so much attention at this stage in the game.  Uncle Shawn and Kristen took them on a hike to see fossils and dinosaur prints, to Chuck E. Cheese and to the toy store to pick out a treat.  They weren't spoiled at all.

The kids attended a second VBS at the pre-school church this month. They had a good time there as well. Aside from vacation and Uncle Shawn and Kristen's visit, it was the most fun they had all month.  Selling a home, looking for a new one, fixing stuff, packing and everyday other chores do not necessarily make an exciting summer.  On the bright side though, we have no plans to move again, so next summer should be filled with many more fun activities.

We attended some great summer concerts in the park this month too, so we got out at least once a week to take a break from everything house related.

Kyla's best friend forever, Grace, turned six this month.  She had her party at a bakery.  Each kid was able to decorate their own cake to bring home.  Kyla's was quite fancy.  As yummy as the cake was, the best part was celebrating with Grace.

Thank you for reading about our month.  We hope you had a great July!
