School is out, the pools are open and it is finally starting to feel like summer. How much of it we will get to enjoy is the big question though as we have decided to put our house up for sale. It will go on the market at the end of the month while we are on vacation to Minnesota.
What does that mean for now you may ask? Lots of silly projects. Spackle, paint, pull weeds, plant new bushes and flowers, add some new mulch, caulk sinks and toilets and so on. As the weeks progress, surely more fun things will pop up for us to do around here.
We have managed to get in a few play dates with classmates during the week. We've met friends at the pool, rec center and Chuck E. Cheese. The kids are happy to have fun stuff to do outside of the home. Apparently, and this is a complete newsflash to us, they do not like to run errands. Who does!?!
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. We spent the day showering Daddy with many homemade gifts. Kyla went back to Arts on Fire to make Dad a "Big Daddy" mug. The name really does say it all. It's a monster sized mug for the many mornings when extra caffeine is needed. Easton took a class at the rec center and made Daddy a turtle mouse pad. Speaking of the turtle mouse pad, it is not to be seen anywhere on or around the computer, Dad. We hung out as a family and enjoyed as many grilled foods as the day would allow for us.
The kids both had birthday parties at the start of the month. Kyla went to a gymnastics party for the first time ever, and Easton went to Lollipop Park to ride his first set of amusement park-like rides. They both had fun. While Easton would gladly go back to ride some rides, Kyla wants nothing to do with gymnastics. We have tried to encourage her to take gymnastics in the fall, but she is adamant about not going there. That being said, Easton can do a somersault and Kyla cannot. Maybe down the road she will change her mind? Maybe?
Kyla finished up her jazz/poms dance classes this month. Her recital was at the end of the month, and she did a fantastic job. She even had her own solo part. She was a bit shy on stage and didn't give it quite the amount of "oomph" she does at home though. However, she loves to show you the steps. All you have to do is ask.
Kyla lost her second bottom tooth this month also. Her top two front teeth are starting to loosen up as well. The tooth fairy may be visiting her again sooner rather than later.
Both the kids attended VBS at church this month. This year's theme was "Everyday Fun Fair." They both had a blast. There were songs, snacks, skits, story times, games and free play. It's possible Easton had the most fun. He just loved the songs and came home singing them every day. The church gives you a CD with the songs on it, so we were able to enjoy the songs in the car and at home (for weeks). By enjoy, we mean it was fun for the kids.
The longest day of the year has already come and gone, so please enjoy your summer. Take time to smell the roses and appreciate all of God's beauty around you.
