Happy Labor Day!  As much as the day says "thank you to the American worker," it also seems to say "good bye summer."  Where did the time go?

Scott and I were able to enjoy an evening out to a Rockies game with Matt and Deb at the start of the month.  It was nice to get out with friends for a night.  Even nicer was the opportunity to indulge in some stadium food.  We were all fully stuffed by the time we left.

The sixth was Kyla's golden birthday.  She turned six on the sixth and was living up every moment of it. Her birthday fell on a Friday, so she had school that day.  However, Mom brought in a special birthday treat for her and her class; animal crackers and cake batter dip with sprinkles.  It was super yummy and a huge hit with the kiddos.

After snack, Mom signed Kyla out of school and took her to the Disney Store.  The staff wished her a happy birthday over the loud speakers, played happy birthday and gave her a certificate and Mickey Mouse key chain.

To continue on with the special day, we came home and opened presents before heading off to Buffalo Wild Wings for a birthday dinner.  Naturally when a six year old picks BWW, she is not going there for the wings. She is going for the mac n cheese.  The manager was super nice and gave her a slice of chocolate birthday cake.  Yum!

Once dinner wrapped up, we all headed over to Arts on Fire for a super special Sofia the First princess party.  Kyla, Easton and 18 of her friends joined us for a fun night of painting pottery. The kids all had a fantastic time celebrating Kyla's special day with her.  She was certainly spoiled for her golden birthday.

For all of you reading this, Kyla would like to wish you another "ThAnK YoU" for the gifts, cards and love you showered her with on her big day.

Soccer is in full swing for both kiddos.  Kyla has been doing great this season.  She is not afraid to get into the huddle and do her best to get the ball and score (or assist with a goal).  Easton, on the other hand, does really great at practice, but then uses game times to pull on shirts and tackle the boys.  For him, it does not matter if you are on his team or not, he will do his very best to pull you down.  Hopefully, by the time spring soccer starts up, he will be more focused on soccer and less focused on wrestling.

School is going well for Kyla and Easton.  Easton just loves going and seems to be enjoying his teacher and new friends.  Kyla also enjoys her new teacher and classmates.  She also enjoys lunch and recesses so she can visit with some of her friends from kindergarten.

This month Kyla and her girl scout troop went on a night hike.  Everyone met up at a park in Littleton with a park ranger named Laura.  She showed them how to look for animal tracks, listen to the sounds different insects make and to be on the lookout for owl nests and coyote dens.  No birds, insects, reptiles or animals were spotted, but it was still fun.  As the park ranger pointed out, the girls were way too rambuntcious and loud.  They scared almost everything away.

Per our usual, we attended Oktoberfest in the Town Center.  Easton and Kyla had a super great time dancing to the music. We stayed for the fireworks this year, so that was fun too.  The fireworks tend to get canceled in July due to wildfires, so they typically reschedule for Oktoberfest.  Both kids were open to watching them this year, so it was a great way to end the night and summer season.

Now that fall is here, we look forward to enjoying a new season.  We thank God every day for all of you and the blessings he has bestowed upon us.
